Why yet another “estimate on the phone”
On a construction site you rarely have a convenient laptop and almost never a decent internet connection. Excel does not open on the go, and cloud tools bring accounts, subscriptions, and the question of where your prices and client base actually go.
At PROWEB we built Smetik — an assistant that puts an estimate together right on the job. It works offline, data stays on the device. The contractor names the price to the client immediately, sees how much they will earn on the job, and generates a document pack on the spot — not later that evening from a home computer.
Who it is for: contractors, foremen, crew leads, and tradespeople who price the work themselves and do not want extra software in the estimate.
What the app can do
The web version is already live at web.smetik.ru. The app installs as a PWA; estimate data is stored locally in the browser — there is no separate “Smetik cloud” for your database.
- Estimates — line items, discounts and markups, work templates. You tell the client the total and see the margin: how much money stays on this job
- Documents — Word samples on site: contract, estimate, order, acceptance act, and price list
- Clients — contacts, legal entity; a sample works contract is generated from the client card
- Events — meetings and site surveys with calendar export
- Directories — nomenclature, categories, currencies, units, adjustments; a price list is downloaded from nomenclature
- Overview — upcoming tasks, estimate margin, quick actions
- Sync and backups — JSON/CSV export and restore from a dump; if you need your own server — push/pull to a URL you control, not us
Why it works on site
- You priced the job offline — and named the price to the client on the spot
- You see your margin in the app; the client does not
- The document pack is ready immediately: contract, estimate, order, act, price list
- The client base and markups do not leave for someone else’s servers
- There is a device backup and sync to your own server — no mandatory “pay for the cloud” subscription; you can support the project with a donation if you want
What we actually shipped
We built a working loop, not just a landing page:
- The app itself, with estimates, margin, a document pack, directories, onboarding, and several languages
- Backups (JSON/CSV) and sync to a server the contractor chooses
- PWA and mobile shells, Android published via RuStore
- The site smetik.ru — a short product pitch and a path to download / web
- An omnibot for support in messengers (more below)
The landing is intentionally simple: pain on site, offline, privacy, margin, capabilities, three steps to a document. No feature carousels for the sake of a carousel.
What we built it with
The app stack is Nuxt and Vue, data on the device via IndexedDB, the shell is PWA and Capacitor. The landing is Nuxt too, as a static site. Word documents are generated on the client. Everything else is wrapping around that core, not a zoo of tools for a portfolio checkbox.
Support omnibot
Product questions are handled by an omnibot: one scenario in Telegram, VK, and Max. In Telegram and Max the entry point is @smetik_support_bot. The bot matches the question against product docs, analyzes using AI and returns a fairly accurate answer; if it cannot — it hands off to a human. A section menu stays next to that.
We wrote the bot as our own service: a backend on Bun and Elysia, a shared scenario core, and adapters per messenger. A free-text question goes to a language model together with the product’s markdown docs; if the model is down or does not know the answer — search over the same knowledge base, then a live operator.
You write where you already are — the support logic is one.
In short
Smetik is offline estimates for people who work on site: the client gets the price, you get the margin, documents on the spot, backup and sync without someone else’s cloud. Plus a clear website and messenger support.
